About

Zhining (Alexandria) Chen

Currently based in Boston, Zhining Chen is a visual artist primarily working with oils and acrylics.

Zhining’s work explores the memories, emotions, and places she has encountered. Through her paintings, She aims to transcend the physical aspects of her memories and landscapes, focusing instead on their essence and the feelings they evoke. Zhining aspires to create art that highlights the contrasts between our past realities, the nostalgia we hold for them, and their influence on our present state. Her art serves as a dialogue between her external experiences and inner world, capturing her emotions in a lasting form on the canvas.

Born in China, Zhining moved to the US at a young age and grew up in New York City and Houston. In 2020, she graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in Economics and a minor in Studio Art. Since graduating she has been on hiatus from creating art, but has since started painting again in 2024.
